Route Planning - Where to go, what to see?

February 2016
Following much discussion regarding our cross country trip, we’ve set it all in motion.  The ¼ wall size US laminated map is mounted and hanging in the kitchen.  Liz has started routing us across country and return.  We spent the last three days batting around ideas of where to go, stay, and how long.
Departure date is June 3, 2016.  Our plan is to ride from CNY through TX, stopping just to sleep.  Our thought is, we have explored a lot of the Eastern half of the US with in the past few years and since we have family and friends in this half we can and will continue without much effort to vacation and explore the area annually if not more.  So, let’s get out of this area ASAP!

  1. Following our review on UT, we are now considering riding directly from MO through CO and spend 3-4 days exploring UT then dropping down into AZ.

    1. That is our plan. Up the coast seeing the Red Woods. We'll hit the Vancouver area, head east and drop back down into the US. We'll be working on mapping that portion of our rout next.

      Thanks!

  3. I suggest giving yourself a flexible amount of time in each area - some places u will really want to spend more time than others - looks like a great trip so far - if ur coming in California watch out for the coyotes there as big as deer and walk into ur campsite without a second thought - we had a couple close calls

  4. Still on schedule for leaving June 3. Our route will take us out to the west coast via OH, MO, OK, TX, NM, AZ, UT, NV, CA, OR, WA, over the border to BC, ID MT, WY, SD, NE, to return to St. Louis MO. About a 28 day 8,000 mile journey. Check out additional posts for more specific route information on each stop and sites along the way.

I will be hanging in the St. Louis area for a few days before continuing on to VA and back home to NY. That will give me an additional week and a half on the road while Liz will be back in NY around the 7/4.

We will try to post daily while on the road with pictures of local sites and maybe some video.
