Day At The Drags

Following a stop in Pittsburgh, PA for a good friend's daughter's wedding Mr. Grey and I continued on to OH to visit with cousins.

With Eileen
Bryan and myself

Just a couple of the many relatives we have stashed in OH. Always a good time which usually revolves around great FOOD!

This visit was highlighted by an awesome day at the track.  I've never been to anything like this and what a way to loose my virginity to drag-racing. With VIP passes complete with full access to pit row, the starting line, fresh food, and of course meeting Matco Tools sponsored NHRA's top fuel division three time world champion  Antron Brown.

Enjoy the pics and a few videos.

Following each race, provided they qualify to continue, each car has 45 minutes to get ready for the next round.  They spend this time totally breaking down the engines and rebuilding them. It's really amazing to see.  Makes my time in the shop tinkering with my snowmobiles seem sooooo amateurish!

Jet engines for drying the track if needed.
NHRA's version of a zamboni. The front brushes takes off any debris and loose rubber.

The rear has rubber spinning the opposite direction of travel laying a fresh coat of rubber.

These NHRA guys are testing track stickyness.

This first video is of a few Top Fuel cars.  The amount of air combined with the sound nearly blew my cloths off!  Incredible the amount of power!!
